Albert E. Dyckes, 82, of Columbus, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 11, 2012.
He was born April 14, 1930 in Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
He was a 1948 graduate of Fairport Harbor H.S., where he was inducted into the high school hall of fame. Al attended, played football and completed his degrees in Education and Liberal Arts at Bowling Green State University (BGSU).
He served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army.
After teaching high school social studies, he became the deputy director of the Ohio Department of Health in 1963. Al served as an associate coordinator of the Ohio Regional Medical Program at OSU. Al served as the deputy director of the Mid-Ohio Health Planning Federation, where he aided in the enactment of the first training standards for EMT’s and paramedics. He became the senior vice president for the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA), where he worked with both the federal and state governments. The OHA annually selects the Albert E. Dyckes Healthcare Worker of the Year Award. Al was a leader and supporter of education.
