Edward J. “Ed” Rettig, 78, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 12:36 p.m. at The Hertiage in Findlay.
He was born on January 14, 1934, in Jenera, Ohio, to the late Raleigh and Emma (Spaeth) Rettig. He had been married first to Sharon Houdeshell and later to Jane Dukes, and they both survive.
Ed was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Findlay. He graduated in 1952 from Cory Rawson High School and was a former homebuilder and commercial real estate developer. He was the designer and builder of the Hillcrest Golf Course in Findlay and was a longtime member of the Findlay Country Club.
Ed is survived by three sons: Kevin (Dawn) Rettig, Tony (Brenda) Rettig and Daniel Rettig, all of Findlay. He also has two daughters: Deb (Tim) Sines of Findlay and Julie (Dennis) Ferrell of Custar, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ben and Chris Ferrell; Skyler Rettig and Desiree Hauenstein; Alex and Angie Rettig; Andrew Pearson; Jennifer, Jared and Jordan Sines; and Maddie Rettig as well as great-grandchildren: Story Rettig and Hunter Wolfe. Ed also has a brother: Larry (Karen) Rettig and a sister: Miriam Harpst, both of Findlay.
