Helen M. (Nietz) Layman, age 98, of Pemberville, passed away peacefully January 7, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
She was born in Walbridge on October 26, 1914, to Fred and Nora (Muhl) Nietz.
Helen was employed for Haskins Laundry as a clerk.
On October 29, 1936 in Toledo, Helen married the love of her life Howard A. Layman.
She was a 77-year member of Moline United Methodist Church. She was the church’s Historian for 28 years. Helen was also a member of the Perrysburg Chapter OES #446 for 62 years, serving as a past Matron.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Judith (the late Ray) Powell and Kathie (Robert) LaBeau; grandchildren, Tami, Wendy, Erik, and Erin; one great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons due in April; brothers, Fred (Eleanor) Nietz and Edward (Bernice) Nietz; and brother-in-law, Samuel Layman.
