Fred E. Hoops of Bowling Green, OH passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Wood County Hospital.
He was born on June 21, 1928 in Bartlow Twp. Henry County Ohio to Samuel Frederick and Emma (Fintel) Hoops. On June 28, 1953 he married Marie Emma Schuette in Napoleon, Ohio and she survives.
Fred served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.
Fred was an avid gardener and liked to build things in his spare time. Some of his more notable projects were building an authentic log cabin and a two-story barn constructed with actual barn timbers and slate shingles.
He was also a Detroit Red Wings hockey and Tigers baseball fan and served as a coach in both little league baseball and youth hockey when his sons were growing up.
